One of the most significant archeological sites in the Hawaiian Islands, Puukohola is filled with history, culture and fantastic ocean views. A call on a clear day will reward visitors with views of Maui, and one in the winter will no doubt bring a glimpse or two of migrating humpback whales. Puukohola is the largest remaining heiau or temple in the islands and the war temple of King Kamehameha the Great. The area was used to stage warriors and canoes in the effort to unify the islands. Admission is free.
